How You Can Help Fight Food Poverty in Our Community

Have you ever watched something that completely changed your perspective? For me, that was recently diving into the Bible Project's fantastic video series that walks you through the whole Bible.

Food

One teaching that struck a chord was the constant emphasis on helping the poor and vulnerable. It's not just a suggestion in the Bible; it's a core principle woven throughout the text. From the book of Leviticus calling for gleaning leftover crops to feed the hungry to Jesus' teachings on loving our neighbours, the message is clear: we are called to care for those in need.

This message resonated deeply because it directly connects to our work at VBDS. Food poverty is a very real issue in our community, and it's heartbreaking to know that families are struggling to put food on the table.

That's where you come in.

VBDS relies on the compassion and generosity of our volunteers to keep our vital services running. You can contribute in so many ways, whether helping out at our food bank, delivering meals to those who can't get out, or even lending a hand with administrative tasks.

Think about what you're good at,  and how you might be able to use those skills to make a difference. Maybe you have a knack for organisation or a friendly smile that can brighten someone's day by delivering some boxes.  Every little bit counts!

By joining our VBDS family,  you'll be directly helping those facing food poverty in your local area. You'll be part of something bigger than yourself,  fulfilling a scripture-inspired calling to help those less fortunate.

So, if you're looking for a way to make a real difference in your community, we encourage you to visit our website at www.vbds.org.uk and learn more about how you can volunteer.

Together, we can ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.
